Franchising: The Basics for Beginners
Franchising: The Basics for Beginners
Buying a franchise can be an excellent way to go into business while having the security of a tried and true business plan for success. It can take much of the trial and error out of the equation that independent business owners often go through, because you can instead work from a template of an already proven business model and focus your time on perfecting your operation. When deciding whether a franchise business is right for you, it’s important to know the basics such as how they function and what you can expect from your franchisor-franchisee relationship before you jump in any further. Here is some basic franchise business information to help you get started:
What is a Franchise? A franchise is defined as an agreement between the franchisor and franchisee, wherein the individual buying into a franchise will market a product or service created and provided by the franchisor. It is a form of business ownership where you are halfway functioning as your own boss, as a business owner, but also working within an established organization and system. Franchising offers business owners the ability to work for themselves, but with the security of an existing framework and support to help them achieve success. However, franchising is not a magic formula, and franchisees will still have to have strong entrepreneurial skills and the dedication to ensure the business functions to the best of its ability.
The Financial Exchange: For the privilege of working within the franchisor’s system, the franchisee must pay certain royalties and fees back to the parent company, and there can be a lot of variation from one organization to the next, so it’s best to do research in order to get the franchise business agreement that will work for you. At this stage in the process it is extremely important to have an experienced franchise lawyer to help you negotiate contracts. In return for this financial exchange, the franchisor can provide support, marketing, and the initial framework to get the new franchise owner’s business started – again there can be variations in the level of support you will receive from one franchise business to the next, so some research and franchise evaluation will be required. A franchise lawyer would be able to assist you in creating a comprehensive franchise evaluation report.
The Two Main Types of Franchise: When looking to buy a franchise, you will find that there are two main types to choose from, business franchise, and product/trade name distribution franchise. For business format franchises, the franchisee receives the whole setup to start their own business, including trademarks, logos, marketing, a clearly defined business plan, as well as ongoing support from their chosen franchisor, in exchange for an upfront franchise fee and ongoing royalties. Examples of this include fast food restaurants, gyms, cleaning agencies, and copy centers, which all must be run according to the predetermined structure established by the franchisor, and maintain a set of standards laid out for them in their franchise contract. For product/trade name franchising, it is a much simpler affair, with franchisors providing a product, advertising, and branding, so that the franchisee can sell their wares in their chosen location—examples of this form of franchising include soft drinks and office supplies.

Need A Beginners Guide To Affiliate Marketing? Here’s The Cliff Note Version
Need A Beginners Guide To Affiliate Marketing? Here’s The Cliff Note Version
Like anything you want to get really good at…affiliate marketing may take away some of you spare time, but it can really pay off in the long run.
So why not start with step #1?
Your first step…in ANY business is to find a hungry crowd to serve. Most failures that I’ve had and that I see other hard working folks make is not having a crowd that wants what you’ve got.
Follow me?
Okay, so what do you do when you find this hungry crowd?
You feed them, right?
For example, a guy or girl that has been dumped and left heartbroken…this is a “hungry crowd”.
Why is this a “hungry crowd”?
Because these people have a problem, a problem that they think about probably several times a day. (I call this mind share.)
As a successful affiliate it will be your job to help or “feed the hungry crowd” by connecting them with a product that solves their problem.
So take what you’ve learned and do some brainstorming and think of a “crowd” you can “feed”.
Now the next step is going to be finding a good match…a product or service that will help solve these problems.
Just about any website that sells anything has an affiliate program (which you can usually find at the bottom of a sites home page) or you can always go to a site like Clickbank and register to sell their products.
Okay so you’ve got your “crowd” and you’ve got you product…now we need to connect the two.
This is where a lot of people get frustrated because it involves a few different time consuming parts.
Probably the most confusing part for most beginners is finding low competition keywords that they can use in there article or ad to get the ranked on Google, Yahoo, etc. because that is how you get traffic (views) to the product you’re marketing.
So here’s what you do:
Go to Google
Type in ‘Google Keyword Tool’ and click on the first result which should be https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal
Now I want you to type in a problem that your hungry crowd might have and then write down any 3 to 5 word keyword phrase that the keyword tool lists and checking out the competition and search volume.
I know that you’re a beginner and you’re doing great so far!
Now you’ve got your crowd, your product and your keywords…time to do some matchmaking and/or pre-selling.
This is where you do a simple ‘warm up’ to the product or service you found that will be helpful to your reader. Now if you’re fretting because you don’t have the best writing skills, here’s what I want you to remember: You have a leg up because you are writing to a hungry crowd and all they want is a ‘real’ person to give them a hand and not a literary masterpiece.
Okay? You can do this!
If you don’t own a website or want to buy one…you can always but up a free blog at www.blogger.com, Post your articles right on your blog and because Blogger is owned by Google, many times you’ll get listed in the search results right away.
Your hungry crowd will search Google for the problems they have, find your blog and if you give them a helpful article, they will buy through your recommendation and affiliate link.
Now if you’d like a hand finding hungry crowds and have the keywords delivered right to your inbox take a look at InstaCashKeywords and don’t miss the handy video Guide To Affiliate Marketing you can watch right now for free.
